SECONDARY BATTERY USING FUSIBLE ALLOY FOR ENSURING BATTERY SAFETY WITHOUT USING SEPARATE SAFETY DEVICE

PURPOSE: A secondary battery is provided to ensure battery safety without using any separate safety device disposed at the outside of a can, to realize slimming and downsizing of the battery, and to simplify a battery manufacturing process. CONSTITUTION: The secondary battery comprises: an electrode assembly(8) comprising a cathode plate(4), anode plate(6), separator(2) interposed between both plates, cathode lead(14) fixed to the cathode plate and an anode lead(16) fixed to the anode plate; a can(10) whose one surface forms an opening(10a) through which the electrode assembly is contained in the can along with an electrolyte; and a cap assembly(12) fixed to the opening of the can for sealing the can, wherein at least one of the cathode lead(14) and the anode lead(16) is formed of a fusible alloy having a melting point of 150-200 deg.C.
