In a process to enhance the efficiency of an industrial process and associated assembly (1), in a first stage the relevant parameters (P1...P10) and their magnitudes are identified that define the process efficiency. The change in process magnitude is monitored under changing conditions. In a final stage, the required safety margins are determined for all each part of the regulating system using the process magnitudes (P1...P10). In a further embodiment deals with the measures required to further increase the output or efficiency of the existing process and assembly.
