An automatic function control of an antenna unit of a vehicle-mounted toll unit of an electronic toll system including a position detection system is disclosed. The toll unit includes a reception unit linked with the antenna unit and the antenna unit is adapted to receive position detection signals. At least one control signal that interacts with the antenna unit is produced and supplied to the toll unit, and the function of the antenna unit is checked by use of the control signal.
