PURPOSE:To let the recording medium to be adapted to a high speed heat sensitive recording system not possibel with ordinary media, lower ground density, improve the contact characteristic to heat head and further improve responsiveness to heat pulses by providing a specific intermediate layer between recording layer and substrate. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate layer 203 composed of a film formable high polymer material whose glass transition point is below nearly 60 deg.C and which exhibits rubber elasticity in ordinary use condition is coated on a substrate 201 such as paper to thicknesses 0.5 to 8mu, preferably 1 to 3mu. On this is provided a recording layer 202 whose basic composition is the heat sensitive color forming composition comprising combining a normally colorless or pale color compound and a phenolic compound and a binding material. This is further passed between pressing rollers whose surfaces have been finished to mirror surfaces by polishing, whereby the recording medium surfaces are smoothed. |
