An apparatus for the continuous production of expanded plastics panels with inserts on their longitudinal edges, comprising a head (1) for pouring a reactive mixture between a first (2) and a second (3) containment layers in order to obtain a foamed layer, a containment and advancement assembly (10) for the layers (2,3) being constituted by a lower slat conveyor (11) and by an upper slat conveyor (12). The lower slat conveyor (11) has lateral containment blocks (15) at the ends of its slats (11a). At least some of the blocks (15) are provided thereon with engaging elements (21) for engaging the inserts (20) to be incorporated in the foamed layer, and grippers (31) for picking and placing the inserts (20) on the engaging elements (21) are provided in the apparatus.
