The retaining noses (13) on the tongue (8) in the male part (2) of the buckle each define a ratchet engagement space (14) extending transverse to the tongue insertion direction, the space being closed to the sides and open at the rear end. This ensures that the locking levers (30) can only be swung from the locking position into the released position when the male part is in a released position where the male and female parts are pushed further into one another than in the locking position. The retaining noses are located on opposite sides of the tongue, which can be inserted between two locking levers on opposite sides of the female part (3).
