<p>A thaw indicator for controlling the storage of frozen items, e.g. frozen foods, has a transparent housing (1) containing a pellet (4) of frozen coloured liquid and separated from an absorbent pad (3) by a perforated plate (7). The pad can be made of cost effective felt, cotton wool etc. The indicator is applied to frozen items/packaging via self adhesive tape (5). If the frozen items thaw, or reach thawing temperatures, the frozen indicator liquid seeps through the perforations and is absorbed by the pad, giving clear indication that thaw temperatures have been experienced.</p> |
