A gas generator comprising a housing (1), a combustion chamber (2) formed in the housing (1), the combustion chamber being packed with gas generant (3) to generate high temperature gas by burning and also having a filtering member (4), an igniter device (I), secured in the housing (1), for igniting and burning the gas generant (3) packed in the combustion chamber (2), and a gas discharge hole (6), formed in the housing (1), to communicate between an interior of the housing (1) and an exterior of the same through the combustion chamber (2) and a gas flow pass (S), wherein a coolant (21) is arranged in the gas flow pass (S).
