An electrochemical sensor (30, 130) characterized in that it comprises:
<UnorderedLists id="ula01" listStyle="none" compact="compact"><ListItem>electrochemical means for detecting an analyte in a sample;</ListItem><ListItem>an electrolyte (58) provided in at least portions of the said electrochemical means; and</ListItem><ListItem>a polymeric semipermeable (60) membrane covering the electrolyte, the said membrane comprising a polymerization product of at least one monomer corresponding to the following general formula CH<Sub>2</Sub>=C(R<Sub>1</Sub>)(COOR<Sub>2</Sub>), wherein R<Sub>1</Sub> and R<Sub>2</Sub> are independently selected from hydrogen, hydrocarbon groups and alcohol groups.</ListItem></UnorderedLists>
