<p>The apparatus has a parking assist electronic control unit (1) computing a path including changing and fixed steer regions. A steering device (20) executes steering to guide the vehicle along the path to a target position. An alarm unit (33, 34) alarms a driver if a vehicle speed exceeds a preset alarm vehicle speed. The control unit sets high and low alarm vehicle speeds for the fixed and changing regions, respectively. The path extends from an initial position of a vehicle to the target position of the vehicle and the alarm unit includes a speaker (33) and a monitor (34). An independent claim is also included for a driving assist method for a vehicle.</p>
