PURPOSE: A mobile terminal for providing effect sound during call communication and a method for providing the same are provided to make a caller or a callee feel call communication richer by allowing the caller to provide a background sound or an effect sound related to content of the call communication. CONSTITUTION: An effect sound is downloaded by using a download unit of a mobile terminal through a communication network(200) and stored in a storing unit of the mobile terminal(210). When a user makes a call or receives a call, the user selects a suitable effect sound(220) and outputs the selected effect sound to a terminal of the other party during call communication(230). When a request for stopping output of the effect sound is inputted, output of the effect sound is stopped.
