The corn cob picking area comprises two rounded edges (36, 38) at the front of two cutting blades (22) forming a gap (20) for the accommodation of the stalk (26) moved by rotating drums (24). Two swivel bearings (34) located at both of the blades (22) at a distance from the gap (20) facilitate a slight motion of the blades (22) made of an elastic material. Each of the blades (22) is supported by a helical spring (30) or an elastic element (32) in order to reduce the forces of the impact caused by the separation of the cobs (28) from the stalks (26).
