Video signal processing apparatus

The apparatus has a luminance circuit detecting a blank area of a picture represented by a video signal. A resizing circuit (1) generates another video signal representative of a processed picture based on the former signal corresponding to a part of a main picture, in accordance with a detection of the blank. A resizing circuit (2) adds the signal representing the processed picture to the signal representing the main picture.
