A boot ring (10) is produced by forming a male lock portion (11) and a female lock portion (12) at both ends of a metallic band member cut in a desired length and then engaging the male lock portion and the female lock portion. The male lock portion (11) has a reverse V-shaped body (11a) whose width tapers toward its fore-end and projections (11b-11d) formed by being projected from both sides in the width direction of the body. The projections (11b-11d) are wider on the outer side in the width direction than on the body side. First restriction portions (S1-S3, S5, S6) are provided, and, when engaged with the female lock portion, they restrict the female lock portion from expanding toward the outer side in the width direction.
