ANTIMICROBIAL SILVER COMPRISING SILVER

An antimicrobial composition comprising silver and at least one compound which interacts with a microbial cell wall to inhibit microbial silver resistance. The resistance inhibitors include molecules that can promote the transport of silver across the cell wall, and/or disrupt the cell wall to allow silver into the cell, and/or disrupt ion pump mechanisms in the cell wall for removing silver from the cell. Inhibitor compounds include fusaric acid, tocopherol, resveratrol, and myristic acid. Also provided are wound dressings comprising the inventive compositions.
