Machine for forming rolls from a paper band (4) comprising at least one receiving mandrel, means for rotating this mandrel in a first position, in order to form a roll, a cutting device (5-7) for cutting the paper band (4) when the roll has reached the desired size and a distributor (9, 16, 17) of adhesive pieces (18) for attaching the terminal edge of the band (4) to the last layer of the roll, characterized in that the machine comprises devices (1) intended to transport the roll having reached the desired size from said first position (3) to a second position (31), adapted in such a way that the paper band (4) crosses the cutting device when the roll is in this second position (31), the machine comprising a mechanism for rotating the roll in this second position after the cutting of the paper band, this mechanism comprising a driving roller (15) adapted in such a manner that it presses against the external layer of the roll, and being driven over a predetermined angle in order to bring the terminal edge of the band of the considered roll in a superimposed position with the last layer of the roll and facing said distributor.
