METHOD OF MANUFACTURING FOAM CORE BOAT COLLARS

Methods for fabricating foam cored items in which the foam core (10) is tightly encased by an outer shell (12). The foam core is compressed, reducing a characteristic dimension, thereby facilitating installation and/or removal of the foam. The foam is then allowed to expand to the desired size. The methods are particularly suited for fabricating foam collars that are located above the chine of a boat and extend longitudinally along the sides of the boat to provide stabilization for the boat during high performance maneuvering and/or provide a fendering system.
