The invention relates to a method of obtaining the availability value of a segment of a telecommunication network. The inventive method comprises the following steps consisting in: defining a segment (S) by selecting n elements (1-8) of the network; defining a segment status indicator (IES) with a value (VIES) which, at any time, is a function (F) of the value at the same time of the alarms (A) corresponding to the selected elements; obtaining a list of the alarms (A) corresponding to the selected elements and a period (P); calculating the value (VIES) of the segment status indicator from the list of alarms over intervals (I); and obtaining an availability value from the value (VIES) of the segment status indicator. The invention also relates to a system and a program product for implementing said method.
