PURPOSE:To prevent the abrasion of a slip ring and an electrode, which results in improving a test precision, by a method wherein a gap between an ultrasonic contact probe and an object to be tested is filled with a liquefied medium, and meanwhile, a conductive liquid is poured between the slip ring, connected to the ultrasonic contact probe, and an electrode joined to a signal processor. CONSTITUTION:A stationary frame body 2, a rotor 4, and a steel pipe 1 being an object to be tested form an air-tight space 9 through the aid of a mechanical seal 6 and a sealing ring 7, and an ultrasonic wave is transmitted and received between an ultrasonic contact probe 14 and the steel pipe 1 through the medium of a medium 8 such as water with which the space 9 is filled. Through the simultaneous rotation of a rotor when the steel pipe 1 moves in a direction of an arrow mark A at a given speed, the ultrasonic contact probe 14, secured to the rotor 4, scans in a spiral manner the surface of the steel pipe 1. A space between a slip ring 17, connected to the ultrasonic contact probe 14, and an electrode 24 connected to an ultrasonic signal processor 15 is electrically connected with water fed to a channel 19 through a hose 27, which results in preventing the occurrence of mechanical wear and tear. |
