Each micro-controller (28) has a counter (27) with a count register. All counters are synchronized at start-up of the data network (13) by being set to an initial value. The counters of the micro-controllers count a common clock signal, and trigger actions of control commands transmitted via the data network, and containing a time signal in the form of a count value, so that the control command is carried out by the respective micro-controller when this count value is reached. Independent claims are included for a method of transmitting messages via a data network; a control device; and an apparatus for printing and/or copying.
