An aqueous preparation comprises blocked polyisocyanates. The aqueous preparation comprises blocked polyisocyanates of formula [B-CO-NH]y-A-[N(H)-C(=O)-O-W-C(=O)-X-R]-Z (I). W : benzene; A : radical of polyisocyanate; B : radical of cationic, anionic, and/or non-ionic hydrophilizing agent; X : O, NH, or NR; R : H, 1-8C alkyl, or cycloalkyl; Z : 1-8;and Y : 0.1-4. An equivalent ratio of z to y is 20:1-1:1. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a process for production of the inventive preparations comprising reacting polyisocyanates with hydroxycarboxylic acids or its derivatives of formula HO-W-C(=O)-X-R, optionally in presence of catalyst and/or cosolvents, optionally in water-miscible or water-immiscible solvents; and dissolving or dispersing the mixture obtained in water or diluted with the solvent to form water-miscible solutions; (2) a method of preparing lacquers, paints, and other coating materials, adhesives,/ or elastomers comprising combining the inventive preparations wit materials consisting of polyols, pigments, fillers, flow control agents, defoaming agents, and/or catalysts; and (3) a method of coatings substrate comprising applying stoving systems to surface of substrate consisting of wood, metals, textiles, mineral substances, or plastics and composites.
