The invention relates to an immediate release tablet capable of being chewed or disintegrated in the oral cavity, which comprises a pharmaceutically active ingredient having an optional tastemasking coating, and a matrix comprising hydroxyalkylcellulose having a weight average molecular weight of from about 60,000 to about 5,000,000. The tablet possess es exceptionally good mouthfeel and stability.
