Vibration damper (1) comprises a cylinder (3) containing a piston rod (5) and an equalizing space (13) whose volume is partly determined by an outer sleeve (19) of a hinge eye (17) fixed to the cylinder. The hinge eye also has an inner sleeve (21). The two sleeves form an annular space (27) with a flow connection to the equalizing space.
