<p>A catalytic combustion type gas sensor, wherein the responding section (5) of a gas detecting element (1) comprises an oxidation catalyst in an amount of 30 wt % or more and has been aged in advance in an atmosphere containing a vapor of a silicone which is a poisoning substance for the catalyst. The catalytic combustion type gas sensor can retain a satisfactory sensitivity for a long period of time even in the presence of the silicone.</p>
