PURPOSE: An MMS(Multimedia Message Service) system and a method therefor are provided to safely transmit multimedia messages by considering the specifications of a receiver terminal in the case of converting a short message into a multimedia message. CONSTITUTION: An MMS system(200) consists of a communication part(205), a subscription processing part(210), a service type determination part(215), a parsing processing part(220), a message conversion part(225), an LBS interworking processing part(230), a billing processing part(235), a database management part(240), and various information storage parts(245-260). The communication part(205), composed of the first communication part(206) and the second communication part(207), transmits and receives data with user terminals or an SMS server through a communication network. The subscription processing part(210) transmits service information, billing information, multimedia contents, etc., to user terminals connected to the MMS system(200) through the first communication part(206). The service type determination part(215) searches a terminal information storage part(255), based on a receiver terminal number contained in a short message received from the SMS server through the second communication part(207), and determines a service type according to the specifications of the receiver terminal. The parsing processing part(220) extracts keywords, appointed by a subscriber previously, from the letters of a short message received from the SMS server. |
