PURPOSE:To accelerate silver removal and bleaching stably by color developing an imagewise exposed silver halide photosensitive material in the presence of a specified fluorescent whitening agent and bleaching it in the presence of an iron (III) polycarboxylic acid complex salt. CONSTITUTION:An imagewise exposed silver halide photosensitive material is processed with a color developing soln. of pH 9-12 contg. 0.1-10g/liter water- soluble fluorescent whitening agent of 4,4'-diaminostilbene deriv. represented by formula I in which X1, X2 are each formula II or R3-CO-; R1-R3 are each OH, halogen, morpholino, alkoxy, or the like; and M is H or a cation. Then, it is washed and processed with a bleaching soln. of pH 5-7 contg. 20-120g/liter iron (III) aminopolycarboxylic acid complex salt, such as Fe(III) ethylenediamine tetraacetate complex salt and not contg. a fixing agent, washed with water, and fixed. |
