PHENTANYL-CONTAINING ADHESIVE PATCH FOR APPLICATION TO ORAL-CAVITY MUCOSA

A phentanyl-containing adhesive patch for application to the oral-cavity mucosa which can rapidly increase the concentration of phentanyl drug in the blood, is effective in diminishing drug migration to the digestive tract, and is easy to handle and highly safe. The phentanyl-containing adhesive patch for application to the oral-cavity mucosa comprises: a drug layer comprising phentanyl or a salt thereof as a medicinal component, a methyl vinyl ether/maleic anhydride copolymer as a pressure-sensitive adhesive, and at least one substance selected among hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose, and hydroxyethyl cellulose as a thickener; a support layer which is insoluble or sparingly soluble in water; and a substrate, the support layer and the substrate having been superposed in this order on one side of the drug layer.
