A touch panel (47) has a display/sensor portion (51a) slightly larger than a display face of an LCD (46) and a sensor portion (51b) projecting outward from one side of the display face, for example, one side on the right side as a user faces the display face. A user's finger (52) touches a button, icon, etc. of a desired item to be selected on the display/sensor portion (51a) or moves up and down on the sensor portion (51b). A to-be-selected display (53) having buttons is displayed on the LCD (46) along the side on the right side of the display face. A button at the side of the finger (52) is highlighted, and the highlighted button is selected when the finger (52) is removed. When there is no button close to the finger (52), no button is highlighted, and the state does not change even if the finger (52) is removed. When the finger (52) is moved to the display/sensor portion (51a), the to-be-selected display (53) disappears.
