The door post (1) is hollow and contains a motor (7) for driving a pinion (11) fixed outside on the post to interact with a gear rack (21) on the door. The door post also contains a continuously vertically adjustable base plate (6) on which the motor is fixed and the pinion is mounted. The base plate is held in a longitudinal guide and can be moved by means of a spindle drive comprising a threaded rod (16) and nut (15) fixed on the base plate.
