A device for detecting an open/close state of a display portion. The device is made thinner and the detection is performed with high reliability. An open/close state of the display portion rotating with respect to a computer main body is detected by an open/close detection device comprising a cam portion rotationally moving as the display portion is rotated, a first arm moving by the rotational movement of the cam portion, a second arm moving by being connected to the first arm, and a switch for detecting an open/close state of the display portion by the movement of the second arm.
