The branch cutter (1) has a sawing device (2) and handle (4) with rod-like extension (3). The motor drive for the saw is formed as an electric motor (5) with power connecting cable (7). The motor drive and saw are set at the end of the extending rod which in turn is telescopic. The power connecting cable has a switch in the handle. An automatic cable winder is provided for the cable.
