An automotive drive shaft (1) is supported by bearings at each end (2.1, 2.1'). A mass balance (4) is positioned between the bearings and is attached to the shaft. The mass balance incorporates cuffs (5.2) that extend around the shaft to the opposite side of the shaft on which the main body (4) of the mass balance is located. Radial forces are interrupted between the shaft (1) and fixed mass bearings (5, 5') by a gap (3.4).
