A distress call device for a motor vehicle is disclosed, comprising a sensor mechanism (1), for recording the accelerations acting on the vehicle and the occupants, an analytical unit (2) and a transmission unit (3), for the automatic initiation of an emergency call. According to the invention, such a distress call device shall be provided with means for estimation of the type and degree of injuries to the occupants, the estimation based on a model (4, 5, 6) for the occupants. The information obtained as above on the type and extent of injuries is then automatically transmitted with the distress call to a rescue centre such that suitable assistance can be rapidly deployed. |
