Motor vehicle head lamp arrangement comprises a head lamp that outputs a light beam (5) on to the lanes (3, 4) of the road (2) with different characteristics for the oncoming traffic and vehicle's own lane. The arrangement incorporates means for changing the beam characteristics according to whether the vehicle is being driven in a country with left or right traffic. The means for changing the illumination beam characteristics cause vertical lowering of the beam.
