PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for setting a current time using a broadcasting signal are provided to automatically set the current time using a broadcasting channel selected by a user, thereby providing reliable information on the current time to the user through a television. CONSTITUTION: When a time set mode command is received(214), an OSD(On Screen Display) shows a standby status for input of a reference channel. When a predetermined reference channel selected by a user is inputted(218), a broadcasting signal of a corresponding channel is tuned(222). It is confirmed whether time information is found or not by reading additional information of the received broadcasting signal from the tuned reference channel(224). When the time information is found, a current time is set according to the time information(228).
