Friction material for vehicle brakes comprises fibrous material (A), filler (B) and, the new feature, as additive (C) at least one of zinc dithiophosphate; dithioalkylphosphate; a cyclotriphosphazene; and/or tricresyl phosphate. An independent claim is also included for a method of preparing (X) by treating a friction material with at least one (C).
