PURPOSE: To provide a composition for removing phosphorous from sewage and wastewater, which reacts with the phosphorous in the sewage and wastewater to adsorb the phosphorous therefrom and does not generate secondary contaminants, and a method for manufacturing the composition. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (a) after mixing 50-100 wt.% of metal hydroxide, 0-40 wt.% of inorganic binder and 0-5 wt.% of pore forming agent based on a total weight of a composition for removing phosphorous, respectively, molding the mixture into a predetermined shape; and (b) after pre-curing the molded material of the step (a), curing it at a temperature of about 150-200 deg.C for 1-3 hours.
