MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR CALL SETUP AND A CALL SETUP METHOD THEREIN, ESPECIALLY IN RELATION TO A MOBILE TERMINAL'S CALL SETUP IN A DORMANT STATE

PURPOSE: A mobile communication system for call setup and a call setup method therein are provided to shorten setup time for a traffic channel in a dormant state by transmitting an extended SDB(Short Data Burst) containing a synchronization identifier at the same time with a traffic channel setup request. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal in a dormant state transmits an SDB containing an SYNC_ID(Synchronization identifier) to an access network and executes a traffic channel setup procedure(401). The access network transmits a signal message to a remote computer(402). In response to the received SDB, the access network transmits an L2(Layer 2) ACK message to the mobile terminal(403). The access network transmits an ECAM(Extended Channel Assignment Message) according to a parameter mapped to the SYNC_ID contained in the SDB(404). The mobile terminal and the access network conclude a service negotiation(405). The remote computer transmits a response for the signal message to the access network(406). The access network, if traffic channel setup has already been completed, transmits a signal message to the traffic channel. In case that traffic channel setup has not been completed yet, the access network transmits the signal message to the mobile terminal through a paging channel in the form of an SDB(407).
