PURPOSE: An avatar editing method in a mobile terminal is provided to improve the convenience of users in the case of managing the phone book or displaying a caller ID by compounding the face portion of an avatar with a user's actual face photograph. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal user detects an actual face image to be used for an avatar. The user stores the detected face image in a face image database. The user loads the actual face image in the avatar editing mode of the mobile terminal(b). The user combines the loaded face image with various accessories, such as glasses(c). Then the user selects and combines a hair style, and creates an avatar having the actual face shape(d).
