PURPOSE: Provided is a secondary battery, which can prevent distortion of the shape of an electrode assembly, and thus avoids problems of an increase in battery thickness and a decrease in battery capacity. CONSTITUTION: The secondary battery comprises: an electrode assembly(10) formed by winding a cathode, anode and a separator; an insulation tape(44) for fixing the end portion of the electrode assembly(10) to retain the wound state; a casing for housing the electrode assembly and an electrolyte therein; and a cap assembly for sealing the opening of the casing, wherein the insulation tape has a perforated portion(42) which permits the insulation tape(44) to be elongated and broken when the volume of the electrode assembly(10) is expanded.
