<p>The tone reproduction characteristics of a color monitor are determined with high accuracy by visual recognition. A test pattern consisting of circular patterns (50) and a background (60) is displayed on a monitor (100) to be measured by a pattern display means (230). A reference pattern, which is produced by a reference pattern producing means (220), consists of black-and-white pattern and has a specified reference luminance, is displayed on the background (60), and a uniform pattern having RGB tone values designated by a tone value designating means (210) is displayed in a circular pattern (50). The tone of the uniform pattern is varied by a tone value varying means (240) so as to change brightness and color. The operator, when the brightness and color of a circular pattern (50) are changed to those of the background (60), gives a coincidence signal to a coincidence signal input means (250). A characteristics computing means (260) computes a graph showing tone reproduction characteristics for each color, R, G, B, based on a reference luminance and a corresponding tone value at this time. Circular patterns (50) are disposed at a pitch matching the spatial frequency sensitivity of human eyes.</p> |
