[Also in Division B1] Exhausted sorbent, e.g. activated carbon, ion exchange resin, Attapulgus 'clay or fuller's earth which has been used to remove such acidic impurities as mercaptan, hydrogen sulphide, phenol or thiophene from a naphtha stream over a period of 0À3-200 hrs. at 50-200‹ F. and ambient pressure, is regenerated by heating the sorbent to 100-350‹ F., preferably 200- 350‹ F., at 10-300 mm. Hg for 0À3-72 hrs., suitably by passing steam or hot gas through the sorbent. |
