A recording quality is improved when performing information recording or rewriting on a phase-change type optical recording medium according to a multi-speed method. A recording apparatus (1) performs optical informational recording or rewriting on a phase-change type optical recording medium (2) according to the multi-speed method by a recording wave which has been subjected to a pulse-width modulation (PWM). Recording or rewriting of a 1-signal having a signal with nT after modulation is nT is performed by a pulse train recording wave having a pulse part fp, a multipulse part mp and a pulse part ep.
