A method of expanding a tubing 20 by using a multiple stage expansion process comprises an assembly 24 having an expansion device 28 located at least partially externally of the tubing 20; running the assembly 24 into a casing 22 of a wellbore; translating the expansion device 28 relative to the tubing 20 to expand an end section of the tubing 20; and further translating the expansion device 28 to expand a remaining section of the tubing 20. In an embodiment, a packer 32 is provided for anchoring and sealing the tubing 20 against the casing 22, and a hydraulic jack (34, figure 4) is used to translate the expansion device 28. |
