PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for measuring a fluctuation level of a free liquid interface are provided to measure a liquid level of liquid such as water or a liquid metal in a vessel by using a thin wire. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for measuring a fluctuation level of a free liquid interface includes a voltage impedance divider(2a) having a liquid level sensor(2b) of a variable resistance(R2). The voltage impedance divider(2a) has an inner resistance(R1). A sine wave generator(1) supplies a sine wave to the voltage impedance divider(2a). A differential pressure amplifier(2) amplifies a differential load voltage of an electric impedance generated from the voltage impedance divider(2a) by the sine wave supplied from the sine wave generator(1). An analog/digital converter(3a,3b) is provided to convert an analog output value of the differential pressure amplifier(2) and an analog load voltage variable value of the electric impedance of the liquid level sensor(2b) to digital values.
