PURPOSE: An internal combustion engine with rotary intake and exhaust ports is provided to reduce weight, volume, and the number of parts by simplifying intake and exhaust systems, to cut down the production cost, and to secure lightweight products. CONSTITUTION: A cylinder block(100) has at least one cylindrical groove-shaped cylinder insertion hole(110) on the upper surface. A cylinder head(200) is combined on the upper surface of the cylinder block to cover the cylinder insertion hole and composed of an intake port(210) for sucking in the mixed gas formed by mixing fuel and oxygen at the constant ratio and an exhaust port(220) for discharging the combustion gas. A rotary cylinder(300) formed like a cylinder to fit in the cylinder inserting hole is composed of a cylindrical piston insertion port(310) formed inside and opened downward and a through-hole(320) formed at the position corresponding to the intake and exhaust ports to penetrate inner and outer sides while the cylinder is fitted in the cylinder insertion hole to rotate about a central shaft. A piston(400) is formed as a shape that is inserted and closely contacted to the wall surface of a piston insertion port(310) and combined in the piston insertion port to reciprocate rectilinearly in the longitudinal direction of the piston insertion port. A connecting rod(500) with a changeable combination direction is joined at a lower end of the piston. A crankshaft(600) is combined with the connecting rod to convert a rectilinear reciprocating motion of the piston into a rotary motion. A rotating unit revolves the rotary cylinder to position the through-hole in the intake port in intake strokes and the through-hole in the exhaust port in exhaust strokes and to close the piston insertion port from the outside in compression and explosion strokes.
