FIELD: metal complex useful as oil-soluble dye or synthesis intermediate of water-soluble dye. ^ SUBSTANCE: claimed metal complexes are obtained by reaction between phthalimide with aryl methane derivative (e.g. 2-methylquinoline) in presence of metal oxide at boiling temperature of reaction mixture, namely at 240-2500C. Method affords the ability to produce meso-tetra(2-quinolyl)-tetrabenzoporphin complexes with zinc and cadmium useful as synthesis intermediates of there water-soluble derivatives. ^ EFFECT: process with improved efficiency and decreased temperature by 1000C. ^ 2 ex
