PURPOSE:To provide the title optical switch with many functions by constituting the switch so that two moving elements can obtain 1st and 2nd positions and setting up the propagation routes of signals in accordance with four kinds of states. CONSTITUTION:The optical switch is provided with a pair of blocks M, N mounting optical fibers 11a-11e, 12a-12e having opposed end faces, driving means 16a, 16b for setting up 1st and 2nd blocks M, N respectively independently on the 1st or 2nd position and positioning means 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b. The propagation routes of optical signals through the optical fibers 11a-11e, 12a-12b are set up in accordance with four kinds of states, i.e. the 1st block M on the 1st position and the 2nd block N on the 1st position, the 1st block M on the 2nd position and the 2nd block N on the 1st position, the 1st block M on the 1st position and the 2nd block N on the 2nd position, and the 1st block M on the 2nd block and the 2nd block N on the 2nd position. Thus, the optical switch can be provided with many functions. |
