AIR CONDITIONER AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE AIR CONDITIONER, ESPECIALLY CONCERNED WITH EFFICIENTLY PERFORMING QUICK AIR CONDITIONING OPERATION BY CONTROLLING DISCHARGE DIRECTION OF HEAT-EXCHANGED AIR

PURPOSE: An air conditioner and a method for controlling the air conditioner are provided to efficiently perform quick air conditioning operation by promptly controlling the temperature of an indoor space and increasing blowoff force by discharging most of air through one discharge port. CONSTITUTION: A suction port(1) is formed at the front of a main body. Discharge ports(2) are formed at both sides of the main body. A discharge control unit drives air sucked through the suction port and exchanging heat in one direction to discharge most of heat-exchanged air through one discharge port in a quick mode. The discharge control unit has blades(61,62) installed at the discharge ports for controlling direction of the discharged air, and a controller controlling operation of the blades.
