PURPOSE: A peer-to-peer work monitoring and controlling system in a grid computing system is provided to use event-driven peer-to-peer communication between a system of a submitter and a client system, and to pass state information and control information without giving an overload in a centralized server, thereby realizing a more immediate feedback. CONSTITUTION: Communication is performed between a submitter client(2) and processing clients(5,6). To submit a multiple-batch job, the client(2) submits a request to a batch server. The two processing clients(5,6) process two exemplary steps in parallel. Lines refer to control information and parameters for the first work step while another lines refer to control information and parameters for the second work step. The processing clients(5,6) start a monitoring step prior to a substantial batch job step.
